Nadine Jarvis: Carbon Copies

You could live on in the sketchbooks of others. Carbon Copies, or pencils made from the carbon of human cremated ash, were created by product designer Nadine Jarvis, who is doing an ongoing research project into post mortem. "240 pencils can be made from an average body of ash—a lifetime supply of pencils for those left behind." Jarvis' project looks to "challenge our archaic post mortem traditions and to offer proposals for alternate treatment for our deceased", and portions of the project work have been showcased by the London Design Museum.
