Target: Hello "Goodbuy"

Target's new ad, which puns Beatles' lyrics into "Hello, Goodbuy", is causing a commotion—people either laud it as brilliance or decry it as an unclever and banal misstep. Decide for yourself:

It's true that no publicity is bad. Still, it's sad that the creatives working on this couldn't come up with something original. The "Say Hello to a Goodbuy" slogan was used for at least a decade by Shopko, a competitor of Target who's headquartered about a 4 hour drive from Minneapolis where Target is based.

Target's is updated, but certainly not new.

I am the biggest Beatles fan around but I have to admit that the different variations of the song are quite impressive. Never heard of Shopko here on the left coast.

im not the BIGGEST beatles fan, although i enjoy their music, there's nothing wrong with the commercial...they are not turning the song into something bad, like viagra did with elvis!
