Kara Walker at the Whitney
A new exhibition at the Whitney, on until February, presents more than 200 paintings, drawings, collages, shadow-puppetry, light projections, and video animations by Kara Walker. Walker, one of my favorite contemporary artists, explores power racial and gender issues via intense, intricate narratives created from simple silhouettes.

She spoke at the Graduation of RISD's class of 2006 (I was there) Wasn't the most...uplifting speaker. She told us all about her days of not getting her school work done because she had to work her shifts at the strip club. :)
That's disappointing... I guess she says what she has to say through the art then, eh?
