Web 2.0 Logo Generator

Fun for Friday: generate logo text (or other copy of your choosing) in the glossy, reflective style of the modern web. Alternate verb: flickring? [via Quipsologies]

Even though it is a common term, I hate when people refer to this style as web 2.0. Web 2.0 isn't a style at all, but a technology (or a service if you will) of next-gen internet apps. Things like blogs, wikis, and flickr are all a part of it. It bugs me death that say that the glossy, high-color, reflection look is a part of web 2.0. its nothing more than a fad that is growing too popular to be cool any more.

Yours is not a new argument, Anonymous, and I actually generally agree with you. It is a problematic label that I avoid. You'll notice that I do not refer to this as "Web 2.0" in the text of the post... only in the title, which states the listed name of the generator (that's what the people who made the featured website are calling it). I couldn't get around using it this time, unfortunately, but didn't want to be an ass and put it in quotes, etc.

I understand. A little while back you made a post about the real Web 2.0.

Just wanted to say that I read your blog everyday. Keep up the good job finding everything.

Cheers. I think we're stuck with the Web 2.0 label, unfortunately -- people seem to have embraced it, which baffles me. Trendy style vs. technology aside, I find it ridiculous that the web, something I've been using and exploring for 15 years, could be described as being only in it's second phase...

But anyway, thanks for commenting and lending another voice to the whole thing -- greatly appreciated. And, of course, thanks for reading!
