BoDo: Business of Design online

BoDo is a newly launched resource for design business information. Articles, ongoing series and discussions will address starting your own design business (online or off), marketing, dealing with clients, working with vendors and other creatives, and more. The BoDo team (which includes Cat Morley from Designers Who Blog) are already full speed ahead with the new site.

Anyone one else find the design of this site lacking?

The color palette destroys any chance of visual hierarchy. I couldn't find enough negative space on the page to rest my eye much less start reading an article or digest the navigation.

I actually agree, for the most part. It is noisy and busy and really quite a mess... But I don't think it's entirely the palette -- it's also how they've implemented the graphic elements. That little dark grey block at the end of every bar of color (which are busy enough themselves with a gradient AND diagonal lines) is really junking things up.

I'm hoping the content proves valuable, though.

If somebody writes about design and has a page that looks like this I just run away - This one is cluttered with senseless visual junk :(
It's so difficult to find any meaning in this... Let's go somewhere else
